Description

Delicious homemade chocolate chip cookies.


Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 cups Trader Joe’s chocolate chunks or semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional, but recommended for the classic taste)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, using a hand mixer or stand mixer, cream the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together on medium-high speed for 2-3 minutes, until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then add vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Using a spatula, fold in the chocolate chunks (and walnuts, if using) until evenly distributed.
  7. Drop 2-tablespoon-sized scoops of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them at least 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are golden brown but centers look slightly soft.
  9. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
