Description

Delicious and tender slow-cooked baby back ribs coated in a rich barbecue sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 racks baby back ribs
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 ½ cups barbecue sauce (plus more for broiling)
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon liquid smoke (optional)

Instructions

  1. Remove the silver membrane from the back of the ribs and pat dry with paper towels.
  2. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Rub the dry mixture over both sides of the ribs.
  4. Cut the racks into halves or thirds to fit your slow cooker.
  5. Place ribs in the slow cooker with the meaty side facing the wall of the insert.
  6. Pour barbecue sauce over the ribs and add apple cider vinegar and liquid smoke (if using).
  7. Cover and cook on LOW for 6–7 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours, until ribs are tender.
  8. Optional: Preheat your oven broiler. Transfer cooked ribs to a foil-lined baking sheet. Brush with reserved BBQ sauce and broil for 4–5 minutes until the sauce is bubbly and caramelized.
  9. Serve hot with extra sauce and your favorite sides.

Notes

  • Ensure the ribs are well coated with the seasoning mix for maximum flavor.
  • This recipe can easily be doubled if you have a larger slow cooker.
  • For a spicier flavor, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the rub.
