Description
Delicious and tender slow-cooked baby back ribs coated in a rich barbecue sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 racks baby back ribs
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 ½ cups barbecue sauce (plus more for broiling)
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- ½ teaspoon liquid smoke (optional)
Instructions
- Remove the silver membrane from the back of the ribs and pat dry with paper towels.
- In a small bowl, mix brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Rub the dry mixture over both sides of the ribs.
- Cut the racks into halves or thirds to fit your slow cooker.
- Place ribs in the slow cooker with the meaty side facing the wall of the insert.
- Pour barbecue sauce over the ribs and add apple cider vinegar and liquid smoke (if using).
- Cover and cook on LOW for 6–7 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours, until ribs are tender.
- Optional: Preheat your oven broiler. Transfer cooked ribs to a foil-lined baking sheet. Brush with reserved BBQ sauce and broil for 4–5 minutes until the sauce is bubbly and caramelized.
- Serve hot with extra sauce and your favorite sides.
Notes
- Ensure the ribs are well coated with the seasoning mix for maximum flavor.
- This recipe can easily be doubled if you have a larger slow cooker.
- For a spicier flavor, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the rub.
