Description

This delicious Old Fashioned Bread Pudding is warm and comforting, perfect for impressing your guests.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups stale bread, cubed
  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup raisins (optional)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Set your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the Bread: Place the cubed stale bread in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Heat the Milk: In a saucepan, heat the milk until warm but not boiling. Pour it over the bread cubes and let them soak for about 10-15 minutes.
  4. Mix the Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, melted butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  5. Combine Mixtures: Gently fold the egg mixture into the soaked bread until combined. If using raisins, add them at this stage.
  6. Transfer to Baking Dish: Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  7. Bake: Place in the preheated oven and bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  8. Cool: Remove from the oven and let it cool for about 10-15 minutes before serving.
