- 4 egg yolks
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 cups whole milk
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch

- 2 tablespoons butter
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan (off heat), whisk together egg yolks and sugar until pale and smooth.
- Gradually whisk in the milk. Sift in the cornstarch and mix until fully combined.
- Cook over medium heat, whisking constantly, until the mixture thickens into a custard-like consistency.
- Remove from heat and stir in nutmeg, cinnamon, and vanilla extract.
- Add butter and stir until melted and glossy.
- Let cool slightly, then transfer to clean jars. Refrigerate until fully cooled and thickened.
