Description
A delicious sesame chicken stir-fry that is quick and easy to make.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- ¼ cup low sodium soy sauce or coconut aminos
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- ¼ cup water
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)
- 2 green onions, sliced (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the diced chicken and sauté for 7–9 minutes until fully cooked through and golden brown on the outside. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
- In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, sesame oil, honey, tomato paste, rice vinegar, garlic powder, and ground ginger. In a separate bowl, mix the cornstarch with water to create a slurry.
- Add the sauce mixture to the same skillet and bring to a simmer. Slowly stir in the cornstarch slurry and let the sauce bubble gently for 2–3 minutes, until thickened.
- Return the cooked chicken to the pan and toss to coat evenly in the glossy sesame sauce. Cook for another 2–3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
- Sprinkle with sesame seeds and sliced green onions before serving. Pair with brown rice, quinoa, or steamed broccoli for a complete meal.
Notes
- This dish is excellent served with brown rice, quinoa, or steamed broccoli.
- You can adjust the sweetness by modifying the amount of honey used.
