Description

A delicious sesame chicken stir-fry that is quick and easy to make.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • ¼ cup low sodium soy sauce or coconut aminos
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • 2 green onions, sliced (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the diced chicken and sauté for 7–9 minutes until fully cooked through and golden brown on the outside. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, sesame oil, honey, tomato paste, rice vinegar, garlic powder, and ground ginger. In a separate bowl, mix the cornstarch with water to create a slurry.
  3. Add the sauce mixture to the same skillet and bring to a simmer. Slowly stir in the cornstarch slurry and let the sauce bubble gently for 2–3 minutes, until thickened.
  4. Return the cooked chicken to the pan and toss to coat evenly in the glossy sesame sauce. Cook for another 2–3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
  5. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and sliced green onions before serving. Pair with brown rice, quinoa, or steamed broccoli for a complete meal.

Notes

  • This dish is excellent served with brown rice, quinoa, or steamed broccoli.
  • You can adjust the sweetness by modifying the amount of honey used.
