Description
A delicious creamy orzo pasta dish with ground beef and fresh basil.
Ingredients

- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 0 cups diced onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 pound ground beef
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 cup crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup orzo pasta
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 0 cups fresh basil, chopped
- 0 teaspoons salt
- 0 teaspoons black pepper
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a deep skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook until translucent.
- Stir in minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula. Season with salt and pepper.
- Stir in tomato paste and crushed tomatoes. Let simmer for 2–3 minutes.
- Lower the heat and add the heavy cream, letting it simmer until thickened.
- Stir in the uncooked orzo and water. Cover and simmer for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Once orzo is tender, turn off the heat. Stir in mozzarella and fresh basil. Let it sit 2 minutes before serving.
