Description

A refreshing drink made with freshly squeezed lemon juice, sugar, and cold water, perfect for hot days.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 5 cups cold water (divided)
  • Pinch of salt
  • Ice for serving

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the sugar, 1 cup of water, and a pinch of salt. Heat over medium, stirring until the sugar and salt completely dissolve. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  2. In a large pitcher, combine the lemon juice and the cooled syrup.
  3. Add the remaining 4 cups of cold water. Taste and adjust as needed. Add a splash more water if it’s too strong or a bit more lemon juice if you like it tangy.
  4. Serve immediately over ice, or chill for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a sweeter lemonade, increase the amount of sugar.
  • Freshly squeezed lemon juice gives the best flavor.
  • If you prefer, you can add mint leaves for extra freshness.
