Description

This homemade apple jam is delicious and perfect for preserving the taste of fresh apples!


Ingredients

  • 6 cups finely chopped apples
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Peeled, core, and finely chop the apples into small pieces.
  2. In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and stir in the brown sugar. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until bubbly and thickened slightly.
  3. Add the apples, cinnamon, lemon juice, and salt. Stir well and cook for 15–20 minutes, stirring often, until the mixture thickens and the apples are soft.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Let cool slightly, then transfer the jam into clean jars.
  6. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks or process in a water bath canner for longer shelf life.
