Description

Delicious and crispy air fryer fries made from fresh russet potatoes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large russet potatoes
  • 3 cups cold water (for soaking)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 0 teaspoons black pepper
  • 0 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 0 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 0 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • Cooking spray for the basket

Instructions

  1. Wash the russet potatoes and peel them if you prefer them without skins. Cut each potato into even 1/4-inch thick sticks so they cook at the same rate.
  2. Place the cut potatoes in a large bowl and cover them with the cold water. Let them soak for 20 to 30 minutes to remove excess starch, which helps the fries crisp.
  3. Drain the potatoes and pat them very dry with clean kitchen towels or paper towels. Removing surface moisture is important for crispy fries.
  4. Return the dried potatoes to a dry mixing bowl. Drizzle with the olive oil and toss until every fry is lightly coated.
  5. In a small bowl, stir together the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and onion powder. Sprinkle this seasoning mix over the oiled potatoes and toss again to coat evenly.
  6. Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (193°C) for 3 to 5 minutes. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  7. Arrange the seasoned fries in a single layer in the basket, avoiding overcrowding. Cook at 380°F (193°C) for 10 to 12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to promote even browning.
  8. Increase the temperature to 400°F (204°C) and continue cooking for 5 to 8 minutes, shaking once more, until the fries are deep golden and as crispy as you like.
  9. Transfer the hot fries to a serving bowl. Sprinkle with the dried parsley and taste for seasoning, adding a little extra salt if needed. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauces.

Notes

  • For best results, soak the potatoes for the full duration to ensure maximum crispiness.
  • Feel free to experiment with additional seasonings based on your taste preferences.
