Description
Delicious Cannoli Squares featuring a delightful ricotta filling and a flaky pie crust.
Ingredients
Scale
- 16 oz Ricotta Cheese
- 1 cup Powdered Sugar
- 1 tbsp Vanilla Extract
- 1 tsp Cinnamon
- 1 cup Mini Chocolate Chips
- 2 pkg Pre-made Pie Crusts
- 1 large Egg
- 2 tbsp Sugar
- 1/4 cup Chopped Pistachios
- 4 each Maraschino Cherries
- 1/2 cup Extra Chocolate Chips
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and mini chocolate chips. Whisk until smooth and creamy.
- Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it’s ready when your Cannoli Squares are assembled.
- Unroll one pre-made pie crust and fit it into a 9×9-inch baking dish. Press it to cover the bottom evenly.
- Spoon the ricotta mixture evenly over the crust, making sure it’s spread out nicely.
- Lay the second pie crust over the filling, sealing the edges well. Brush the top with a beaten egg and sprinkle sugar over it.
- Place your assembled squares in the oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
- Once baked, allow the squares to cool for 30 minutes before cutting into squares.
Notes
- Use whole milk ricotta cheese for a richer texture.
- Coconut sugar can be used as a healthier alternative for powdered sugar.
- Opt for pure vanilla extract for the best taste.
- Dark chocolate mini chips enhance the flavor.
- Homemade pie crust can also be used for a better taste and texture.
- Sprinkling sugar on top adds sweetness and a crunchy texture.
- Chopped pistachios add a touch of elegance, while maraschino cherries provide decoration and sweetness.
